Clos Mirabel – Tranquillity in South-West France
Clos Mirabel is a beautiful estate between coast and mountains, located amidst the gentle hills of Jurançon in the South-West of France. The scenery and the uninterrupted magnificent views over the vineyards to the entire chain of the Pyrénées Atlantiques offer great opportunity for painting courses for groups of 10 to 16 people.
There are an 18th Century Manor House, a Winery and additional picturesque houses and studios that provide comfortable and romantic accommodation in single, double or twin rooms, including fully equipped kitchens and bathrooms.
The airport, which is closest located to Clos Mirabel, is Pau airport. The owners, a small family business with a mix of French, Québecois, Irish, and Scottish members, offer a transfer from the airport to the destination.
For breakfast there is a buffet of local and regional produce, lunch is either a light buffet or a gourmet picnic and dinner an exquisite four course meal that includes apéritifs, wine and beer, whatever you prefer. In addition to that, there are morning and afternoon breaks in which you can enjoy tea or coffee and fresh fruit or confiserie.
But there is also the possibility of eating out, for example in one of the four restaurants and cafes the little town of Jurançon, which is 3 kms away from Clos Mirabel. Also, there are numerous local bakers, butchers, a greengrocer, a super-market, weekly market, churches and chemists. The much larger city of Pau is just a few minutes further. It is ideal for shopping, eating out and visiting historic sites. Besides that, there are possibilities for cycling, water sports, spa and relaxations, mountain walks, horse riding and many others, so there are always activities that are suitable for non-painting partners.
Since Clos Mirabel is a haven of peace, and there is ever changing light and tranquillity, the charming estate is perfect for painting and other art forms. Not only is there a 50m² art studio, but also the possibility of painting with a view outdoors. The extraordinary view over the vineyard and the close location to both, mountains and coast, offer a perfect reference for any scenery painting or photograph. Even if it is not the scenery you want to capture, the undisturbed and serene atmosphere is a delight for every artist anyway.
