Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

In the South of France, located between the mountains and the Mediterranean Sea, lies the region Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, which impresses through its color and mild climate all year round. The sky is clear blue and the sun usually shines brightly. The sea is literally at your feet and even the peaks of the Alps can be reached in just a few hours by car.

Looking for breathtaking views? From the spectacular Calanques at Marseille (the capital of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur) to the port of Saint-Tropez and Toulon, the waves of the Mediterranean Sea dive the coast into a picturesque sapphire blue. In the Parc National des Ecrins, in the Parc Naturel du Queyras or in the Massif des Maures, visitors will find numerous painting and photography motives. The breathtaking gorges of the Verdon or the Durance are perfect for white water activities such as canoeing or white water rafting. In summer, hiking, climbing and the Via Ferrata (via ferrata) can be a great option for the active travellers among us. But even in winter you can do sports here! The ski resorts of the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and the Hautes-Alpes await you with a comprehensive range of winter sports.

Art, history and France - is there anything that fits better together? The Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region is richly equipped with historic buildings. Best known are the Pope's Palace in Avignon, the basilica of Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde in Marseille, the arenas of Arles, the Vauban fortress Briançon and the castle of Baux de Provence. Follow the footsteps of Picasso, Matisse, Cézanne or Van Gogh at the Musée Granet in Aix-en-Provence and share their passion for the light and landscapes of this region. Culture and art lovers will find plenty of inspiration for your photos and paintings!

After a fascinating, but also exhausting tour there is nothing better than a delicious meal! How good that even the Provencal cuisine can inspire you. The cuisine offers an enormous range of hearty dishes, such as gratin dauphinois or ravioles, and light Provencal and Mediterranean cuisine, such as ratatouille or aïoli pistou. But also our sweet-toothed heads should definitely try the honey, calisson (cookies with almonds, orange ...), mendiants (chocolate nut cookies) or a pâte de coing (with quince). The aperitif is firmly rooted in the Provençal culture. Be sure to enjoy one of the region's many tasty wines: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côte-de-Provence and so on.

With your head in the Alps and your feet in the Mediterranean: This is how the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region presents itself! Breathtaking landscapes and culinary delights make Provence a top holiday destination for creative travellers.
