Hannah Twine
Hannah works as a professional artist & tutor selling her work in galleries whilst also specialising in animal & human portrait commissions. In addition to her own work, she runs art workshops across Devon & Dorset tutoring both adults & children in art. Hannah also demonstrates for art societies, sharing her techniques on creating powerful portraits with a ‘less is more approach’.
Most of Hannah’s training has been with Nicholas Beer, who was Senior instructor at the Charles Cecil Studios, Florence for over 20 years. She also takes great inspiration from the great masters such as Sergeant, Munnings and contemporary artists Richard Schmid, Ken Howard OBE RA & Stephen Brown RBA.
In addition to the portrait commissions, Hannah also paints landscapes ‘en plein air’ enjoying the energy and spontaneity that painting outdoors offers. She happily flits between mediums, creating artworks in charcoal, oil pencil, oil, watercolour & mixed media.
Sound draughtsmanship underpins Hannah’s art and her fascination to re-create light and life brings her work alive. To date one of Hannah’s most prestigious commissions was to paint 3 times Grand National Winner, Red Rum.
"I adore being outdoors in the countryside and when I am not creating or teaching art, then you will often find me spending time with my horse. The knowledge that I have gained from watching them, riding them and handling them has given me a greater understanding of their mechanics. I love all animals and nature will always inspire me.
I have a twin sister who is a Designer and we often share ideas and support each other with our work & life! I enjoy assisting her with her Copper Patina Art & Jewellery… she is the ‘Techy Twin’ and makes up my team!"
